This year’s much-anticipated kick off of the yachting season captivated as renowned yacht builders unveiled some exciting new designs for 2019 at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show. Each year the jewel of the Mediterranean, the French Riviera, becomes a bustling haven for yacht enthusiasts as it plays host to some of the finest motor vessels the world over. From multi-decked gigayachts and superyachts, to performance sailing yachts and luxury tenders, these two prestigious shows began the season with thousands of exhibitors and the debut of hundreds of new yachts from the most prominent international shipyards.

Creative features and radical concepts forged a renaissance in design, as Italian builders like Ferretti and Azimut pushed the design envelope at the Cannes Yachting Festival that welcomed a bevy of motor vessels into the two ports in Cannes: the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto. With over 600 vessels on display including new ship premieres and sailing yachts, it is considered Europe’s leading in-water boat show.

Annually, the Monaco Yacht Show — a smaller venue, but no less spectacular — returns to the iconic Port Hercules to host more than 120 superyachts, of which 40 new launches were unveiled this year in a worldwide debut. For four days, this exclusive event represented the pinnacle of luxury and provided the ultimate showcase for industry influencers. Yachting enthusiasts viewed some of the most dazzling vessels and an array of wonders in naval architecture. In addition, many events and parties including the Monte Carlo Gala hosted by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco highlighted the international luxury yachting event.
